The Coaching Orchestra
In an empty hall, four figures stand alone:
The Conductor, baton raised, patient, wise,
And Maria, first violin, poised to sing,
While two souls step forth, their stories to bring
.
Each voice rises, separate yet entwined,
Different melodies of the same design,
Like counterpoint in a sacred suite,
Their refrains echo, bitter and sweet.
Then softly at first, shadows take form,
As spirits drift in through ancient doors:
Children’s flutes, light and clear,
Parents’ cellos, deep and near,
Grandparents’ bass notes, strong and slow,
Past lovers’ violas, touched with woe.
The past glides in on muted strings,
The present thunders as brass takes wing,
While future hopes like wind chimes ring,
All waiting for the Conductor’s sign.
No written score guides this dance,
Pure improvisation, pure chance,
As each voice finds its rightful place,
In this symphony of time and space.
Then something shifts – the music turns,
As understanding slowly burns,
Tears fall like raindrops on the strings,
Smiles break like sunrise as joy takes wing,
And laughter ripples through the air,
A percussion of healing, bright and rare.
Old discords resolve to harmony sweet,
As barriers crumble, rhythms meet,
Two hearts that once beat out of time
Find synchronicity sublime.
The future opens like a flower,
Transformed within this sacred hour,
As two souls learn to play as one,
Their symphony has just begun.
The past, now understood, grows still,
No longer fighting for its will,
While present joy and future grace
Dance together in this space.
The Conductor lowers his steady hand,
As Maria’s violin takes its final stand,
But the music lingers in the air:
Two hearts now beating, tuned and fair,
Ready to write their own sweet song,
Together, where they now belong.
This was my attempt to put our work at Duo Coaching into poetry!
